On Friday, March 27th, Ardmore Elementary launched its annual One School, One Book initiative with a high-energy, all-school assembly. Mrs. Wojnarowski revealed this year’s selection, The Wild Robot on the Island, and the excitement was immediate. Cheers filled the room as many students recognized the title from having read the book or seen the movie. There was a buzz in the air as anticipation spread throughout the crowd—everyone is eager to start reading!
Throughout the month of April, classrooms across the school will be diving into the story together and participating in a variety of engaging activities to bring the book to life.
To add to the fun, our librarian, Mrs. Huizinga, has issued a creative challenge to all students: create a “tissue box robot” in honor of Roz, the story’s beloved main character. Students are invited to work with their families to decorate and transform an unopened tissue box into a robot inspired by the book. For more details, students can use this link or connect with Mrs. Huizinga or their classroom teacher.
We can’t wait to see the incredible creations our Ardmore Eagles come up with—and to share this reading adventure together!
