On November 9, students and families of the District 45 STARS and Multi-Needs programs participated in a thrilling bowling night at Bowlero in Glendale Heights. Over 100 participants packed the bowling alley to enjoy free bowling, food, and quality time with each other.
Angela Voss, a STARS program social worker at Jefferson Middle School and Schafer Elementary School, said the event offered families a safe place and activity to attend with their children while building community among all families. For many students, it was an opportunity to socialize with each other outside of the school environment.
“Seeing the students have fun and enjoy themselves with their families in a safe and welcoming environment was the best part of the night,” Voss said.
Thank you to all the participating families and Special Education Department staff who made this event a memorable experience for our students. Thank you to the Frida Community Organization for sponsoring the event!
